Week 10

Image
End Result: The following photos, etc depict my final work of the scale models I have made during this project, demonstrating their relationship with light levels and angles, as well as showing them alongside human models. Ultimately depicting how they would interact with the world in and around them at scale (1:50, 1:30, 1:20).

Week 9

100 Word Statement Modelling is a very clear and concise way to convey ideas and designs. Using various materials and crafting techniques including paper, card and balsa wood I attempted to bring the existing chosen room as well as my design to life. Having decided to stay within the parameters of just the one room, I had to find ways to change the bedroom without fundamentally changing the purpose and intent of the room. Through some preliminary sketches I was able to brainstorm the possibilities ranging from extensions to more drastic changes such as the addition of a balcony or private bathroom. This exploration is demonstrated through my models with each model representing my attempt at a different variation of the room. All culminating in my final balsa wood model, conveying clearly my final design decisions. Final Model

Revised Paper Model Paper models (1:50) The images here depict the changes in the paper models I made, with the very first depiction sitting on the right, next to the finalized paper revision on the left. Photoshop Material Composites Some basic photo-shopped images of my room model to depict what the chosen room would look like when built out of various materials, including; brick, concrete, carbon fiber, natural wood and painted wood. Photo-shopped depiction of my room model within an external setting of a grassy hill, exploring the possible material types and setting for my re-designed room

Week 7

Light and Scale Revised paper model and depiction of light: Paper model demonstrating light path through louvred bedroom glass doors with an internal light source (1:50) Photo model of bedroom rendition with an external light source (1:50) Photo depicting final model with various light levels and angles: Sun path light levels demonstration Following my exploration of the relationship between light and the models, I then began construction on a humanoid figure in order to create a much clearer semblance of scale to the model and audience. Using balsa wood, I constructed three models, each at varying scales including; 1:50, 1:30, 1:20. By using three scales, I was able to use the models with each of my models, demonstrating the size and relationship between the rooms I had depicted and their inhabitants. Experimental Rendition Having explored the possible designs and modifications I decided to further explore the potential ch...

Week 6

Preliminary modification of sketches Having built my accurate scale models of the actual work room, I then set about drawing sketches of the possible modifications I could make to the room. As depicted below I extensively brainstormed the possible additions and renditions including; heightened ceilings, folding door, balcony, additional windows, walk in robes or private bathrooms.  First Paper Rendition of Chosen Room The beginning of me sketch modelling my chosen room, my bedroom. Using paper I constructed a small 1:50 scale rendition of the room.

Week 5

Work room sketch modelling Paper Model Prototype (1:50) A quick miniature depiction of the chosen work room. Built using paper, I aimed to achieve a simplistic depiction demonstrating the key features including the main window and door. Cardboard Model (1:20)  Having constructed the simple paper model, I moved onto to constructing a larger and more obvious model. This time using white card with a scale of 1:20. Again ensuring that the features were clear, I began considering what modifications I could make to the chosen room. Whether it be extensions or more extreme changes like the additions of balconies or bathrooms. Fusion 360 2.5D Shapes and Assemblies
